What this sheet is for

Keep a term's worth of half-finished badges in one place, so nothing is signed off twice and nothing is forgotten at presentation night.

Who it is for

Scout, guide, cub, brownie, beaver, rainbow and explorer leaders, and anyone running a uniformed or awards-based youth section.

How to use it

  1. Copy each requirement from your own association's programme into the column.
  2. Open a row per young person per badge they are working towards.
  3. Write what was actually seen or done, not just a tick.
  4. Have whoever is entitled to sign it off put their name and the date.
  5. Fill the presented column on the night, so nothing gets awarded twice.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: What each young person is working towards and how far they have got — requirement by requirement, with the date it was seen and who signed it off.

Your association's requirements. The requirements for a badge or award come from your own association's programme, and only the people it names can sign them off. Copy the requirements into the column for them; none are printed here.

Write-on lines: Group / unit · Section · Term or year · Leader

Questions

Why are the requirements not printed?

Because they belong to your association, they are revised from time to time, and they differ between sections and countries. Copy the current wording in yourself and the sheet stays right.

Can this be used for other award schemes?

Yes. Anything worked through requirement by requirement and signed off by a named adult fits the same columns — badges, skills awards and in-house schemes alike.
