What this sheet is for
Record whose property is on the yard at the point it arrives, which prevents almost every argument about a missing rug.
Who it is for
Livery yards, riding schools, pony clubs and shared yards.
How to use it
- Record ownership at the moment something arrives.
- Note whether it is marked, and mark it if not.
- Log items out and returned; the returned column is the one that matters.
- Check the list against the tack room twice a year.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
What if something goes missing?
A contemporaneous record of what was there, whose it was and where it was kept is far stronger than a recollection, both for insurance and for an awkward conversation. Whether anything is payable is between the parties and their insurers.
