What this sheet is for
Give whoever is standing in for you one page with everything they need, on the stable door rather than in a folder at home.
Who it is for
Owners, sharers, livery yards and anyone leaving a horse in somebody else's care.
How to use it
- Keep it where the horse is.
- Fill in the behaviour and handling notes properly — they are what a stranger needs.
- Record the out-of-hours vet number, not just the daytime one.
- Think about what a passer-by would learn before adding personal detail.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Should this replace the passport?
No. Where an equine passport is legally required it must stay with the horse and this does not substitute for it. This is the practical summary a helper can actually use.
