Equine condition scoring runs on more than one scale, and the right weight for a horse depends on its type, height and work. Write down which scale and which method you use, then keep to it — a record made half by tape and half by eye is not a trend.

Questions
What should my horse weigh?
No target is printed. It depends on type, height, build and work, and a number from a website is a poor guide for an individual animal. The trend in your own horse, and your vet's opinion, are what matter.
Which condition scoring scale should I use?
More than one is in common use and they do not map onto each other. Pick the one your vet uses, write it at the top, and never mix the two on one sheet.
