How to use it
- Use one method — tape or weighbridge — and say which at the top.
- Name the condition scale you are scoring on.
- Record work level and grazing alongside; they explain the number.
- Measure at the same time of day and the same point in the week.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
What should my horse weigh?
No target is printed. It depends on type, height, build and work, and a number from a website is a poor guide for an individual animal. The trend in your own horse, and your vet's opinion, are what matter.
Which condition scoring scale should I use?
More than one is in common use and they do not map onto each other. Pick the one your vet uses, write it at the top, and never mix the two on one sheet.
