What this sheet is for
Split the jobs between everyone in the house before the month starts, so the question of whose turn it is has already been answered in writing.
Who it is for
Families, house shares, student houses and anyone tired of being the person who notices the bins.
How to use it
- Write everyone's name and initials in the key at the top.
- List the jobs down the left — keep them specific enough to be arguable.
- Agree who owns each job each week and write their initials in the box.
- Pin it up somewhere everyone passes, and print a fresh one each month.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Should the rota rotate every week?
Only if the household wants it to. Some jobs are better left with whoever is least bad at them, and some are worth rotating precisely because nobody wants them. The sheet supports either — it just records what was agreed.
What if someone does not do their job?
The sheet will not fix that, but it does remove the argument about what was agreed, which is usually the part that takes the longest.
