Who this is for

One bathroom, one specification. The suite, taps, shower, radiator, extractor, tiles and trims are written down with make, model, finish and supplier, so every fitter and supplier works from the same detail.

How to use it

1. Write the address, the room dimensions and the positions of the window, door, soil pipe and water supplies.
2. Work down the items listed, filling make and model, colour or finish, supplier and size for each one you are having; cross out the ones you are not.
3. Record the wall and floor tiles, the grout colour and the trim in the tiles section.
4. Tick delivered as items arrive and fitted as they go in, so you can see what is still to come.
5. Tick off each outstanding decision as it is made, and give the same version of the sheet to everyone quoting or fitting.

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The online version keeps what you enter in your own browser and builds the completed PDF on your device.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. Questions

Why note the soil pipe position?

Where the WC can go usually depends on it, and moving it changes the job. Recording where it is now lets each quote say whether it includes moving it.

What if I am not having a bath?

Cross the row out, or change it to whatever you are having instead. The items listed are a common set for a bathroom and can be renamed to suit a shower room or cloakroom.

Is there an Excel version?

No, because the sheet records choices rather than adding anything up. Print it or fill it in online, where it saves in your own browser. Prices can go on the fixtures and fittings schedule.

Why record the grout colour?

It is easy to forget and changes the look of the tiles. Writing it down means the tiler brings the right one rather than whatever is in the van.
