Who this is for

A hygiene and safety round of a salon, done between clients or at close. Six short lists cover the stations and tools, the basins, the treatment rooms, the colour and chemical store, the laundry and waste and the electrics, with a table for what needs putting right.

Salon and barbershop owners, nail and beauty technicians, spa managers and mobile therapists working from a room, who want the daily round written down rather than carried in somebody's head.

What this helps you track

  • That tools and surfaces were dealt with between clients, not just at the end of the day
  • That the colour and chemical store is tidy, labelled and shut
  • Anything found broken or running low, with who is sorting it
  • A dated run of rounds you can show to anyone who inspects the premises

How to use it

  1. Name the salon, the person doing the round and the date, and say whether it is an opening or closing round.
  2. Walk the stations first and tick only what has actually been done, not what is normally done.
  3. Check the basins, treatment rooms and colour store, opening cupboards rather than glancing at them.
  4. Put anything you cannot tick on the issues table with a name against it.
  5. Add anything the lists do not cover — a sunbed, a sauna, a nail bar — to the issues table or the notes.
  6. Sign it and keep the sheets together; a run of them is the record worth having.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The online version keeps what you enter in your own browser and builds the completed PDF on your device.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Does the sheet say how tools must be cleaned?

No. Cleaning, disinfection and sterilising requirements for salon tools differ by country and by treatment, and your product and equipment instructions matter too. The lines ask whether it was done to your standard.

Is there anything about patch tests and client records?

There is a line asking whether the records your own policy calls for were completed. What those records must contain is set by your insurer, your product supplier and the rules where you are.

Opening or closing round?

Either. Many salons run the stations and basins lists between clients and the full sheet at close. There is a field at the top to say which this one was.

Can a mobile therapist use it?

Yes, with the premises lines crossed out. The tools, chemicals, waste and laundry lists apply just as much when the kit lives in a car.
