The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

A written record of a visual electrical round. Each line names the area and the item looked at, carries a pass or fail, and has room for what was seen and what has to be done about it; the browser and spreadsheet versions count the failures for you.

Caretakers, facilities and maintenance staff, site managers, landlords and small business owners who look over their own installation between the tests a qualified electrician carries out.

What this helps you track

  • Which boards, circuits, accessories and leads were actually looked at
  • What was found wrong, in words, rather than a bare tick
  • Who is fixing each defect and the date it is wanted by
  • How many items failed on this round, so you can compare one round with the next

How to use it

  1. Fill the header with the site, the inspector and the date before you start walking.
  2. Work through the prefilled items, adding your own on the blank lines for anything else on site.
  3. Mark each line Pass, Fail or not applicable, and write what you saw in the observation column.
  4. Describe the action for every failure and give it a date; leave it blank where nothing is needed.
  5. In the browser and spreadsheet the fail column and the summary fill themselves in; on paper, count them at the end.
  6. Sign the sheet, pass the failures to whoever does the work, and keep the copy with your building records.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Does this replace an inspection and testing certificate?

No. This is a visual round recorded on paper by whoever walks it. Testing an installation and issuing a certificate is work for someone qualified to do it, under the rules that apply where you are.

How often should the round be done?

The sheet does not say. Inspection frequency depends on the type of building, how it is used and the rules and policies you work under. Set your own interval and write the date on each sheet.

What if an item does not apply to my site?

Mark it N/A. It stays on the record, so anyone reading the sheet can see it was considered rather than missed, and it is left out of the fail count.

Can I add items of my own?

Yes. The printed sheet leaves blank lines under the prefilled ones, and the browser version lets you add as many rows as you need and saves them in your own browser.
