The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.

The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

Follow a clear-out's items from listing to sale. Each item has where it is listed, the asking price, what it sold for and the fees and postage, so the net money is clear; your own cut-off date decides when the unsold ones go elsewhere.

Anyone clearing a room, a loft or a whole house who wants to sell the better things first, see what the effort actually raised, and stop relisting the leftovers at some point.

What this helps you track

  • Every item put up for sale, and where and when it was listed
  • The asking price as it comes down, and what it finally sold for
  • Fees and postage taken off to show the money you actually kept
  • How many days each item took to sell
  • What happened to the items still unsold at your cut-off date

How to use it

  1. Write what is being cleared, the date you started and your own cut-off date for selling.
  2. Give each item a line when you list it, with where and the asking price; cross out and rewrite the asking price if you reduce it.
  3. When it sells, enter the date, the price paid and any platform fees and postage you covered.
  4. Net and days to sell are worked out in the browser and the workbook; on paper, take the fees and postage off the price.
  5. At the cut-off date, move anything unsold to the second table and record where it went.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Why set a cut-off date?

Relisting the same few things for months keeps the clutter in the house. Choosing your own date to stop selling, and deciding in advance what happens to the leftovers, is what gets the clear-out finished.

How is this different from the second-hand selling tracker?

This tracker follows one clear-out to its end, including what happens to the things that do not sell. The second-hand selling tracker is for ongoing selling through the year, counted and totalled per platform.

Do I need to tell the tax office about what I sell?

That depends on where you live, what you sell and how often. Check your own tax authority's guidance; this sheet only records what each item sold for and what it cost to sell.

What counts as fees and postage?

Anything that came off the sale price or out of your pocket to complete the sale: platform and payment fees, postage, packaging bought for the item, or a delivery. Collection in person usually has none.
