What this sheet is for

Have a dated record of what each customer told you about cover, in their words, before it is ever needed.

Who it is for

Storage operators who ask customers how their goods are covered, whether through their own policy, an arrangement offered by the site, or not at all.

How to use it

  1. Add a row for each customer when they take a unit.
  2. Record the basis of cover they gave — their own, arranged through you, or none.
  3. Write in the declared value exactly as the customer gave it.
  4. Note whether any evidence of cover was seen.
  5. Add a fresh row whenever a customer tells you something has changed.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: What each customer told you about cover for their stored goods — their own policy, cover arranged through you, or none — with the declared value they gave and the date they said it.

Their declaration, not our advice. This sheet records the customer's own declaration; it does not provide cover, value anything or say what cover is needed. The declared value is theirs, the policy is theirs or their insurer's, and the terms that apply are in your agreement and the rules where you trade.

Questions

Does this sheet provide any cover?

No. It records what the customer declared and when. It does not insure anything, value anything or say what cover is needed; that is between the customer, their insurer and the terms of your own agreement.

Why no minimum or suggested value?

Because the value of stored goods is the customer's to state and their insurer's to accept. The column is for their figure, and the sheet offers none.
