What this sheet is for

Know at the door of the new address whether every carton that was packed has come off the van, instead of finding out a week later.

Who it is for

Removal crews and packers, and households doing their own move who want the same discipline.

How to use it

  1. Number each carton or wrapped item as it is packed and write it here in order.
  2. Note the room it came from and the room it is going to.
  3. Tick the loaded column as each one goes on the van.
  4. Tick the unloaded column at the far end; a gap is a missing carton.
  5. Note any damage found on unpacking against the number.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: A running count of cartons and wrapped items as they are packed, room by room, with a fragile mark and the room they are going to — so the number loaded matches the number packed.

Count on, count off. Number every carton and item as it is packed and write the number here in order. At the far end, tick each one off against this sheet. A gap in the ticked column is a missing carton, and you find it at the door rather than a week later.

Write-on lines: Customer / job · Packed by · Date packed · Total cartons

Questions

How is this different from the Moving Inventory and Box Log?

That sheet is the household's own list of what is in each box, kept for unpacking. This one is a crew's count: it cares about the number of cartons on and off the van, not the contents beyond a word or two.
