What this sheet is for

Keep one column readable at a glance when the online diary is down, the phone is ringing and a walk-in is standing at the desk.

Who it is for

Hairdressers, barbers, nail and beauty technicians who run their own column, and the receptionist who books it for them.

How to use it

  1. Write the stylist's name and the date at the top, one sheet per column per day.
  2. Write each slot's time in as you book it — the times are yours, not printed.
  3. Fill in the client, the service and a contact number so a late runner can be called.
  4. Tick arrived when they sit down and paid when they leave; walk-ins go on the next free line.
  5. Keep the sheet with the day's takings so the two can be checked against each other.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: One stylist's column for one day — each slot with the client, the service booked, how to reach them, and a tick when they arrive and when they pay.

Your slots, your timings. The time column is blank because how long a cut, a colour or a set takes is yours to decide from your own way of working. Write the slot times in as you book them, and leave a gap where you want one.

Questions

Why is the time column blank instead of printed in slots?

Because how long a cut, a colour or a set takes is different in every salon and for every stylist. Printing half-hour slots would make the sheet wrong for most people; leaving the column blank lets you book the day the way you actually work it.

What about the online booking system?

This is the paper copy of one column for one day — the thing you can glance at with your hands full, or fall back on when the system is down. Copy the day's bookings onto it in the morning and add the walk-ins as they come.
