A free printable dryer vent cleaning log: lint housing, behind the dryer, the duct and the outside flap, with drying times to spot a slowdown early.
One page. Choose your paper size — both versions are laid out identically, so neither one gets shrunk to fit.
Print it and write on it
Fill it in type and save
The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
Clear the lint the screen misses before it builds up in the duct and becomes a fire risk. The drying time column shows a duct starting to clog.
Households, landlords and shared laundry rooms with a vented tumble dryer.
One page, top to bottom:
Printed under the title: The deep cleans the lint screen does not cover: the lint housing, behind and under the dryer, the duct run and the outside flap, with drying times noted so a slow-down shows up early.
Unplug it first. No cleaning interval is printed: it depends on how much the dryer runs, the duct's length and bends, and the maker's manual. Unplug the dryer before moving it; on a gas dryer, leave the gas connection to a qualified fitter. Condenser and heat pump dryers have no outside duct, so only the housing and behind columns apply.
Write-on lines: Dryer make and model · Gas or electric · Duct material · Duct length · Duct route · Outside outlet · Bends
Table, 7 rows: Date · Housing · Behind · Duct · Condition · Flap · Drying · By · Notes
It depends on how much the dryer runs, how long the duct is and how many bends it has, and the maker's manual may give its own advice. The sheet prints no interval; the drying time column tells you when a duct is starting to clog.
Partly. Condenser and heat pump dryers have no outside duct, so the duct and flap columns do not apply, but the lint housing and the space behind and under the dryer still gather lint and are worth cleaning.

Collect the numbers you can never find when something breaks: model and serial numbers, install dates, and when the warranty runs out.
Stop measuring a clogged filter in a dark loft. Write the size down the first time, then reorder without taking the old one out.
Keep a dated record of monthly visual checks, and separate them clearly from the professional servicing that premises usually also need.
