What this sheet is for
Record deaths and their disposal, which is both a legal requirement in many places and the record that reveals a pattern nobody had noticed.
Who it is for
Anyone keeping farmed livestock.
How to use it
- Record every death, including the ones with an obvious cause.
- Keep the collector's docket number against the entry.
- Note when a vet was involved and whether a post-mortem was done.
- Review the sheet at the year end for patterns — age, season, group, field.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Can I bury a dead animal on my land?
In many countries, no — fallen stock must go to an approved collector or plant, with limited exceptions, and burial is an offence. The rules differ by country and species and are strictly enforced. Check before you need to know, not afterwards.
Do I have to record deaths?
For most farmed species, yes, and often with a retention period attached. Your own authority sets it.
