What this sheet is for
Keep a plain, readable record of one account that you can follow down the page and total at the foot.
Who it is for
Sole traders, clubs, treasurers, small charities and anyone who does not need accounting software.
How to use it
- One account per sheet.
- Carry the opening balance forward from the previous sheet.
- One line per transaction, with a reference you can find again.
- Total in, total out and closing balance at the foot.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Is this single or double entry?
Single entry — one account, one running balance. It is what most small organisations actually need and what most treasurers actually keep.
Will my accountant accept it?
Ask them, but a legible ledger with references that tie to receipts is what they would like you to bring. This sheet makes no claim about accounting standards or tax treatment.
