Spot roof problems early and, more usefully, see what has changed since the last inspection.

Who it is for

Homeowners doing a twice-yearly check, and buyers wanting a record before and after a purchase.

How to use it

  1. Do this from the ground with binoculars — roof work is genuinely dangerous.
  2. Work round the whole building, not just the front.
  3. Then check the same roof from inside the loft.
  4. Note what needs a professional rather than trying to fix it.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

Should I go up on the roof?

No. Almost everything on this sheet is visible from the ground with binoculars or from inside the loft, and working at height is genuinely dangerous — it is not what this sheet is asking you to take on.
