What this sheet is for

Capture what you planned, what you actually did and what happened, which is the comparison that makes next season better and the one nobody writes down.

Who it is for

Vegetable gardeners, allotment holders and anyone growing the same crops each year.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the planned column over winter when there is time to think.
  2. Fill in the actual column on the day, honestly, even when it is weeks off the plan.
  3. Record the first harvest date — it is what tells you whether early sowing paid.
  4. Write the result in plain words. Next January it is the only honest record you have.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

How is this different from the seed sowing calendar?

The calendar is a year-at-a-glance grid for planning the whole plot. This sheet is one line per crop with an outcome column, for recording what actually happened. Most people use the calendar in winter and this one through the season.
