What this sheet is for
Set out what waters what, how, and how often, then keep a dated record through the season alongside the system checks that stop a blocked emitter going unnoticed.
Who it is for
Gardeners, allotment holders and smallholders running hoses, drip lines or timers.
How to use it
- Write down where your frequencies came from — a supplier, a book, or your own experience of this soil.
- Set the zones up once at the start of the season.
- Date the month grid as you go rather than ticking it, so you can see gaps.
- Run the system checks at the start of the season and after any frost.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Why are no watering frequencies printed?
Because how much water a bed needs depends on your climate, soil, planting and season. Any figure printed here would be wrong somewhere and confidently followed. The sheet holds your figures instead.
