What this sheet is for
Turn a season of odd handfuls and full trugs into one running total per crop, so next year's planting is decided by what the plot produced rather than by memory.
Who it is for
Allotment holders, kitchen gardeners, smallholders and anyone comparing one growing season with the last.
How to use it
- Choose the unit you are going to count in, write it at the top, and keep to it.
- Add a line every time you pick something, however small the pick.
- Carry the running total down the sheet so each crop's season total is always visible.
- Note where it went — eaten, stored, given away or sold — because that changes what the total means.
What is on the sheet

Printed under the title: A running tally of what actually came off the plot — crop, date, weight or count, and where it went. The season's total is the line nobody can remember by November.
Write your unit at the top and keep to it. This sheet is unit-neutral: no weights and no units are printed on it. Decide what you are counting in — kilograms, pounds, grams, ounces, punnets, trugs or simply number of fruit — write it at the top, and keep to it all season. A running total made of mixed units tells you nothing.

Questions
Why is no unit printed on the sheet?
Because growers weigh in kilograms, in pounds, in grams and in punnets, and some count fruit rather than weigh it. The sheet has a box at the top for the unit you chose and a unit column on every line, so a sheet filled in honestly still adds up.
Do I need scales?
Not necessarily. A count is a perfectly good measure for beans, cucumbers or eggs off the plot, and a consistent count is more useful than an inconsistent weight. The sheet asks you to record the method so that next year's figures can be compared with this year's.
