What this sheet is for

Know what is actually on the shelf and what the till took, so gas bottles and milk are reordered before they run out rather than after.

Who it is for

Site owners, wardens and reception staff running a small shop, gas store or reception counter on a campsite or caravan park.

How to use it

  1. Count the shelf and the store together at the start of the period.
  2. Add deliveries to the row for that item as they arrive.
  3. Write your own reorder point beside each item and count against it.
  4. Record cash, card and the float at the end of each day, and the difference if there is one.
  5. Sign each day's count and file the sheet with your banking records.

What is on the sheet

2 pages, in this order:

Printed under the title: The site shop in one place — what came in, what is left on the shelf and what the till took, so gas bottles and milk are not counted from memory.

Your prices, your reorder points. Prices, margins and reorder levels are yours and are not printed here. Put your own reorder point in the column provided, and count the shelf against it rather than against a number somebody else guessed.

Questions

Why is there no price column?

Because prices and margins are yours, and a printed figure would be a guess at somebody else's business. The sheet tracks quantities and what the till took; your own pricing lives in your till or your books.

What goes in the reorder column?

The level at which you would order more of that item — your figure, based on how quickly it sells and how long your supplier takes. Writing it on the sheet means whoever counts next knows it too.
