What this sheet is for

Cut the grass around the people on it, by settling the order and the access once instead of working it out again every week.

Who it is for

Campsite, touring park and holiday park wardens and groundskeepers, and anyone keeping a large site tidy through a season.

How to use it

  1. Name every area once at the top with the machine and the person who covers it.
  2. Note the access constraint beside each area — which pitches, which days.
  3. Log what was cut or cleared each week, by whom and on what machine.
  4. Record fuel or machine hours if you track them, in the column provided.
  5. Carry anything left undone into the next week's rows.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: The grounds maintenance rota for a site — each area named with the machine and the person who covers it, then a running log of what was cut, strimmed, edged or cleared and when.

Access decides the order. Grass on a site is cut around people, so the rota is as much about access as about the grass: which field is empty, which pitches are full, where the noise carries. How often anything is cut is your call and the weather's.

Questions

Why does it not say how often the grass should be cut?

Because that depends on your ground, your season and the weather, and no printed interval survives a wet July. The sheet shows what was actually done and when, which is the part that tells you whether you are keeping up.

Why record the machine used?

Because hours on a machine are what drive its servicing, and because a job that always needs the ride-on is a job that stops when the ride-on does.
