What this sheet is for
Record not just that a contractor arrived but what they were told about your building before they started work.
Who it is for
Site managers, facilities teams, landlords, schools and anyone letting trades into premises they are responsible for.
How to use it
- Fill in the work being done, not just the company name.
- Brief them before they start, then tick the induction column.
- Write the points you covered at the foot of the sheet.
- Record permit numbers where a permit system applies.
- Check everyone has signed out at the end of the day.
What is on the sheet
One page, top to bottom:

Record what they were told, not just that they arrived. The induction column is the point. A contractor sign-in that does not record what they were told about the building is a list of names. What your induction has to cover depends on the site and the law where you are — write your own points in and tick them off.

What should an induction cover?
That depends entirely on the site, the work and the law where you are, so the sheet prints no list. Write your own points in the space provided — the value is in covering the same things every time and having a record that you did.
