Build a dated history of your electric car's battery while the warranty still runs. An unusual drop then stands out against your own earlier readings.
Owners of electric and plug-in hybrid cars, and fleet managers tracking battery health across their vehicles.
2 pages, in this order:
Printed under the title: A dated history of one electric car's battery: each health or capacity reading and where it came from, and the range a full charge gives, so a drop that looks unusual is noticed while the battery warranty still runs.
Your warranty sets the threshold. Nothing here says what normal battery wear looks like. Readings move with temperature, charge level and the tool used, so note those beside each one, and judge a drop against the capacity threshold in your own warranty, copied into the box below.
Write-on lines: Make and model · Registration · Battery capacity stated by the maker · Battery warranty ends (date) · or at (mileage) · Capacity threshold in the warranty · Bought on, at mileage
Table, 24 rows: Date · Odometer · Reading · Source · Full range · Outside · Charge · Notes
Table, 4 rows: Year · Odometer · First reading · Last reading · Change · Range summer · Range winter · Notes
Table, 3 rows: Date · Garage · Test done · Result as reported · Report kept at
The sheet does not say, because it varies by model, climate, charging habits and age. What it gives you is your own car's trend, which you can compare with the threshold in your warranty and with what the maker publishes.
Health and range estimates shift with both, so a reading on a cold morning at a low charge can look worse than it is. Noting them lets you compare like with like.

Keep a service history in your own hands, so it survives changing garages and is there when you sell.
Judge a used electric car's battery on evidence you saw, not on what the seller says. The warranty wording and the range test go on the same page.
Fill in once the details you are asked for by a garage, an insurer, a parts counter or a hire firm and can never find.
