Used Car Pre-Purchase Inspection Sheet
Carry out the same inspection on every car you view, so a decision made in somebody's driveway is based on what you saw rather than what you remember.

A free printable used EV check: battery health evidence and who produced it, the battery warranty as written, charging kit and a short range test.
One page. Choose your paper size — both versions are laid out identically, so neither one gets shrunk to fit.
Print it and write on it
Fill it in type and save
The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
Judge a used electric car's battery on evidence you saw, not on what the seller says. The warranty wording and the range test go on the same page.
Anyone viewing a used electric or plug-in car, privately or at a dealer.
One page, top to bottom:
Printed under the title: One used electric car at one viewing: the battery evidence you were shown, what the battery warranty actually says, the charging kit and a short range test, so the battery is judged on paper rather than on the seller's word.
Record the evidence, not a verdict on it. No health percentage, range or threshold is printed as good or bad: that depends on the model, its age and the warranty wording. Write down exactly what the evidence says and who produced it.
Write-on lines: Make, model and battery size · Registration · Odometer · Asking price · Viewed on
Write-on lines: Health or capacity figure shown · Shown by (dashboard, app, scan report) · Date of the reading · Produced by (dealer, garage, seller) · Battery or modules repaired or replaced: when, by whom
Write-on lines: Ends on (date) · or at (mileage) · Capacity threshold it states · Seen in writing? Y / N
Also printed: It covers: · Failure · Capacity loss · Transfers to me · Approved-used cover
Write-on lines: Charge at start · Range shown at start · Distance driven · Charge at end · Range shown at end
Write-on lines: Buy, walk away or ask for more evidence · Price notes
Ruled lines: Notes
The sheet does not say, because it depends on the model, its age and mileage, and what its warranty covers. Record the figure, where it came from and the date, and compare it with the maker's warranty threshold and with similar cars.
Some battery warranties cover outright failure but not a gradual loss of capacity, or only below a stated threshold. Ticking which one applies, from the document itself, tells you what the warranty would actually do for you.
Carry out the same inspection on every car you view, so a decision made in somebody's driveway is based on what you saw rather than what you remember.
Come back from a test drive with notes on what you heard and where, instead of a general feeling that it seemed fine.
Build a dated history of your electric car's battery while the warranty still runs. An unusual drop then stands out against your own earlier readings.
Keep a dated account of which documents you actually saw and what each one said, rather than a memory of being shown a folder.
Compare the cars you have seen on what you wrote at the kerb rather than on what you can still remember a week later.
