Show how often a fault came back and how long the car was off the road, from the paperwork. A pile of repair orders becomes one dated record.
Owners of a new or nearly new vehicle with a fault that keeps returning after repair.
2 pages, in this order:
Printed under the title: Every garage visit for a fault that keeps coming back: dates and mileage in and out, the work done, the repair order number and whether it was fixed, with the letters you send kept on the same record.
A record, not a claim. This is a record, not legal advice. Whether repeated repairs give you any right to a refund, a replacement or arbitration depends on the rules where you are and on your warranty. Copy each date, mileage and order number from the paperwork.

No. It is a record, not legal advice. What repeated repairs entitle you to depends on the rules where you are and on your warranty, so check those; the log gives you the dates and numbers any claim would ask for.
It shows the car went in for that fault on that date and came back on another, and how far it was driven in between. The figures come from the repair order, which makes them hard to dispute.

Turn a diagnostic session into a record the next technician can pick up. It also gives the customer something better than 'it had a code'.
Put the price in writing before the work starts, which is what prevents most garage disputes.
Keep a dated account of which documents you actually saw and what each one said, rather than a memory of being shown a folder.
Every sheet, binder, game and puzzle on Upkeep Papers is free to download, with no email and no account. Making them is not free: each one takes days of research, design and checking, and the site costs money to run. If something here saved you time, you can buy us a coffee. It is entirely optional: nothing is locked, and nothing changes if you don’t.
