What this sheet is for

Keep a dated inspection history for one scaffold, with findings and the action taken recorded beside each inspection.

Who it is for

Builders, roofers, scaffolders, site managers and anyone responsible for a scaffold on their premises.

How to use it

  1. Write the required inspection interval in the header, from your own rules.
  2. Record the erector's stated load class — do not assume one.
  3. Inspect after alteration or bad weather as well as on the interval.
  4. Say what was found, not just 'safe'.
  5. Keep the sheet where the scaffold is, and file it when the job ends.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

How often must a scaffold be inspected?

That is set by local rules and by the circumstances — after erection, after alteration, after events likely to have affected it, and at intervals. The specifics differ by country, so the sheet has a blank line for yours rather than a printed figure.
