What this sheet is for
Set out how a job will actually be done in sequence, with the controls written against the step they belong to rather than in a block nobody reads.
Who it is for
Trades and subcontractors asked for a method statement before starting, small builders, and anyone planning work on somebody else's site.
How to use it
- Write it for this job and this site. A recycled one gets ignored.
- State plainly what is out of scope as well as what is in it.
- Put the control against the step, not in a general paragraph at the end.
- Brief it to the people doing the work and have them sign.
- Reference the risk assessment it goes with.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
