What this sheet is for

Record a day on site while it is happening, because delay, weather and verbal instructions all become arguments later and are trivial to note now.

Who it is for

Site managers, small builders, self-builders, project managers and anyone running work where time and instructions may be disputed.

How to use it

  1. Fill it in at the end of each day, on site.
  2. Record the weather. It is the most-cited entry in any delay argument.
  3. Write down verbal instructions and who gave them, the same day.
  4. Note deliveries that did not arrive as well as those that did.
  5. Keep the sheets in date order for the whole job.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
