What this sheet is for
Record feeding and moult cycles so that a long fast can be recognised as normal for your animal rather than worried about.
Who it is for
Tarantula, scorpion, mantis and other invertebrate keepers.
How to use it
- Record refusals and the date the fast started.
- Note premoult signs when you see them.
- Record moult dates and, where you measure it, size.
- Log rehousing — it is when most escapes and injuries happen.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
My tarantula has not eaten for weeks. Is that normal?
It very often is, particularly before a moult, and it can last a surprisingly long time in some species. Your own record of previous fasts and moults is what tells you whether this one is unusual.
