What this sheet is for

Record feeding and moult cycles so that a long fast can be recognised as normal for your animal rather than worried about.

Who it is for

Tarantula, scorpion, mantis and other invertebrate keepers.

How to use it

  1. Record refusals and the date the fast started.
  2. Note premoult signs when you see them.
  3. Record moult dates and, where you measure it, size.
  4. Log rehousing — it is when most escapes and injuries happen.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

My tarantula has not eaten for weeks. Is that normal?

It very often is, particularly before a moult, and it can last a surprisingly long time in some species. Your own record of previous fasts and moults is what tells you whether this one is unusual.
