What this sheet is for
Build a record of what the enclosure is actually doing across a day and a season, rather than the one reading you happened to glance at.
Who it is for
Anyone keeping a species with controlled heating, lighting or humidity.
How to use it
- Record the type and position of your thermometer and hygrometer.
- Take morning and evening readings — the difference matters.
- Note the room temperature; it explains most seasonal drift.
- Record when the UVB was fitted and when it is due for replacement.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
Why record room temperature as well?
Because a setup that holds its gradient in summer often fails in a cold room in January, and the drift is gradual enough that nobody notices without a record.
How often should UVB be replaced?
The manufacturer states it, and it differs by lamp type — output falls long before the lamp stops looking lit, which is why the date matters more than the appearance.
