Snake Feeding and Shedding Record

What this sheet is for

Track feeding and shedding together with weight, so a refusal can be read against temperature and the shed cycle instead of worried about blindly.

How to use it

1. Record refusals as carefully as feeds — the pattern is the information.
2. Note the enclosure temperature on feeding day.
3. Weigh regularly; a refusal with a steady weight is a different thing from one with a falling weight.
4. Record whether each shed came off complete, and check eyes and tail tip.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

How often should I feed my snake?

No frequency is printed. It depends on species, age, size and temperature, and both under- and over-feeding cause harm. Use a species-specific source and write your regime at the top of the sheet.

My snake has refused several feeds — is that a problem?

That is a question for an exotics vet, and this sheet is what makes it answerable: with dates, weights and temperatures they can tell the difference between a seasonal fast and a problem. Without a record it is guesswork.
