The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

Count the books in, count them out. Take this to a fair, signing or market to record each title's price, copies brought, sold, signed and given away, and the sheet works out what should come home and what was taken.

Authors selling their own books at fairs, signings, festivals, school visits and markets, alone or with a helper on the table.

What this helps you track

  • Copies of each title and format brought to the event
  • Copies sold, signed and given away
  • Copies that should be coming home, to check against the box
  • Takings per title, the cash and card split, and takings after the table fee

How to use it

  1. Write the event, date, venue and any table fee at the top before you leave home.
  2. List each title and format with your price and the number of copies packed.
  3. During the event, tally sales, signed copies and giveaways, on paper or in the browser version.
  4. At the end, write the cash and card totals from your float and card reader, then count the boxes against the returned column.
  5. Returned copies and takings are worked out in the browser and the workbook; on paper, subtract and multiply across.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Why record signed copies separately?

Signed copies are usually also sold copies, so the column is for your records rather than the arithmetic. It shows how many people wanted a dedication, which helps when planning time at the next event.

What if my cash and card totals do not match the takings?

The summary shows the difference. Common causes are a discount given on the day, a bundle price or a miscounted giveaway; note it so the next sheet can allow for it.

Does it handle discounts or bundles?

Enter a separate line for a bundle or event price, with its own price. That keeps the takings column accurate without changing your usual list prices.

Can I use it for other merchandise?

Yes. Bookmarks, prints and tote bags can go on their own lines with their price.
