The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

Your valuables, written down before they go in a box. Each fragile or valuable item gets a line with its box number, who packed it, the value you put on it, whether it was photographed and its condition before and after, so there is a record to point to if something arrives damaged.

Households moving with antiques, art, electronics, glass, instruments or anything they would struggle to replace, and anyone whose removals cover asks for a list of valuable items before the move.

What this helps you track

  • Which box each fragile or valuable item went into, and who packed it
  • The value you declared for each item and the total across them all
  • Items worth more than the per-item limit on your cover
  • Photos and serial numbers taken before packing
  • Condition before the move and on arrival, and which items are still unchecked

How to use it

  1. Write the move date, the removals company and the cover type, then enter the cover limit and the per-item limit exactly as your policy or contract states them.
  2. Before anything is wrapped, list each fragile or valuable item with its box number and whether you or the movers packed it.
  3. Enter the value you are declaring, tick when a photo has been taken, and note the serial number and its condition in your own words.
  4. The over-limit column, the total and the summary are worked out in the browser and the workbook; on paper, compare each value with your per-item limit.
  5. When the boxes are opened, note the condition on arrival and tick each item as checked, so anything damaged is spotted while the claim window is open.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

What counts as high value?

Whatever your cover treats as a single valuable item. The per-item limit field holds the figure from your own policy or removals contract, and the sheet flags any line valued above it. No figure is suggested here.

Why record condition before packing?

Because a claim usually turns on showing an item was sound when it left. A line written and photographed before wrapping is far easier to rely on than memory once the box has been opened in the new home.

Should the movers see this list?

Many removals firms ask for a list of valuable items before the move, and sharing it means both sides agree what was handed over. Check your contract for what they need and when.

What if something arrives damaged?

Note the condition on arrival straight away, take photos and start a line on the removals damage and claim record, which follows the claim through to settlement. Keep this record with it as evidence.
