What this sheet is for

Keep track of time off in lieu that has been earned but not yet taken, which is the part that gets forgotten and then argued about.

Who it is for

Small employers, charities, care and hospitality teams, and anyone who works extra hours by agreement rather than by contract.

How to use it

  1. Record the reason the extra hours were needed, and who authorised them.
  2. Mark clearly whether each block was paid or taken as time off.
  3. Update the balance column every time. That is the whole sheet.
  4. Agree the carried-forward balance in writing at the end of each period.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
