What this sheet is for

Record the harvest hive by hive with a batch code, which is what makes traceability possible if a jar is ever queried.

Who it is for

Beekeepers with one hive or twenty, and anyone selling honey at the gate.

How to use it

  1. Record which hive the honey came from before it goes in the tank.
  2. Give every extraction a batch code and put it on the jar labels.
  3. Record moisture if you measure it — it decides whether it will ferment.
  4. Total the year by hive; it is how you learn which colonies earn their keep.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

What do I have to put on a honey label?

That is set where you are, and it usually covers country of origin, weight, batch identification and a best-before date — with real penalties for getting it wrong. Check your own food authority. This sheet records the batch; it does not design the label.
