What this sheet is for

See at one glance what has been paid this year and what has not, instead of working it out from a pile of statements.

Who it is for

Households, shared houses, anyone managing bills for a relative, and anyone who has ever paid the same bill twice.

How to use it

  1. List every bill down the left, including the annual ones.
  2. Put the amount and the day of the month it falls due.
  3. Tick the month once the payment has actually left the account.
  4. Leave months blank where a bill does not fall due.
  5. Review it at the end of the year — the pattern of what you pay for is the useful part.

What is on the sheet

The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.

Questions

Why is there no total for each month printed?

Because bills on different cycles do not fall in the same months, so a printed monthly total would be wrong for almost everybody. There is a box at the foot for your own figure.

Is there a version that adds up?

Yes — the Bill Payment Tracker Spreadsheet works out each bill's true annual cost from its billing cycle and totals the lot.
