See what every bed has carried without trying to remember it, so next season is planned against the real history of the plot.
Allotment holders, kitchen gardeners and anyone growing in beds who wants to move crops around deliberately rather than by memory.
One page, top to bottom:
Printed under the title: Beds down the side, the season across the page — what went in where, so next year's plan is built on what was actually grown rather than what you meant to grow.
Your rotation, written down. Which families you move and how long you keep them apart is your own decision, taken from how your ground behaves and whatever guidance you follow. This sheet does not set a rotation for you; it keeps the record straight enough that you can see at a glance what each bed has carried.
Write-on lines: Plot / garden · Season or year · Number of beds
Table, 11 rows: Bed · Early season · Main season · Late season · Over winter · Group · Planned next year
Because a rotation that suits heavy clay and a hungry family plot is not the one that suits a dry sandy bed, and growers follow different systems. The sheet gives you the grid and the record; the order is yours to set.
It makes no difference to the sheet. Name them however you already name them — numbers, letters, 'by the shed' — and the rows work the same way.
Put the plan and the honest verdict on the same page, so the lesson from one season is in front of you when you plan the next.
Get the plot down on paper to a consistent scale, so bed lengths, seed quantities and next year's rotation can be worked out in the warm.
Plan the season with last year's beds in front of you, which is the only way rotation decisions get made from fact rather than memory.
Read a change in the ground against what was actually put on it, instead of adding the same things year after year on the strength of a vague memory.
