What this sheet is for
Record what actually went into a bioactive build, so that a problem months later can be traced to a decision rather than guessed at.
Who it is for
Keepers running bioactive vivariums, paludariums and planted terrariums.
How to use it
- Record the build in detail; you will not remember the substrate mix in a year.
- Log the clean-up crew added and when you next saw them.
- Record mould and pest outbreaks — early ones are usually normal.
- Note which plants survived and which did not.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
How long does a bioactive setup take to settle?
Longer than most people expect, and it varies. Recording the build and the first few months is what lets you tell the difference between settling and failing.
