What this sheet is for
Run a quarantine properly with a written baseline, so a change is noticed rather than assumed and the period is not shortened out of impatience.
Who it is for
Anyone adding an animal to an existing collection — reptiles, fish, birds, small mammals.
How to use it
- Set the period at the start, with your vet, and write it down.
- Do quarantined animals last, with separate or disinfected equipment.
- Record daily, including the days nothing happened.
- Have a vet check before mixing where the species or source warrants it.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
How long should quarantine last?
No period is printed. It depends on species, what you are watching for and your vet's advice, and it is usually longer than people expect. Quarantine that ends because you got bored is how a whole collection gets an outbreak.
