What this sheet is for
Keep a running record of hours taught, in a form that can be handed over if anybody ever asks for it.
Who it is for
Home educating families, particularly anywhere hours or subjects must be evidenced.
How to use it
- Write your own subjects down the left. They are yours, not ours.
- Log hours daily. Reconstructing a term later is the thing that goes wrong.
- Total the week, then carry the running figure forward.
- Note trips and resources at the foot — it is the evidence that gets asked for.
- File the sheets in order.
What is on the sheet
The layout is fixed at a size that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the A4 and Letter files are visually identical and print at full size on either. Rows are set at a height that an adult can actually write a date and a few words into with a pen — most printable tables are built in a word processor and never tested with one.
Questions
How many hours do I need to record?
That depends entirely on where you live, and in many places nothing is required at all. No target is printed on this sheet. Find out what applies to you and write it in.
Is this a legal record?
It is your own record. Whether it satisfies anybody else is a question for the authority that asks, and this sheet makes no claim either way.
