The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.
What is in the home office and who it belongs to. One line per item with its make, model and serial number, whether you or your employer own it, what it cost or when it was issued, the warranty end and its condition; the days to warranty end count down and the cost totals.
Home and hybrid workers with a desk full of kit from two sources, freelancers claiming for equipment, and anyone who will one day have to hand a laptop back.
The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.
Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.
What can be claimed, by an employee or by someone self-employed, depends on the tax rules where you are and on your employer's policy. This register records what you bought and what it cost; who can claim what is a question for the guidance for your country or your accountant.
Because you will be asked to return it, and a list with serial numbers and condition is what settles any question about what was issued and in what state.
Policies differ on equipment used for work and on items belonging to an employer. Check your policy; the register gives you the list to check it against.
It does not — it is calculated in the browser and the workbook from today's date. On paper, leave the column blank or write the figure when you check.
What furniture and equipment the office holds, and which room each item is in.
Which machines exist, what they are and where their serial numbers are written down.
Every live project, the client it is for and the fee agreed.
What the business spent in the period, net, tax and gross.
Printable sheets, workbooks and tools on the same subject.
Record what the business owns rather than what is in the shed: a numbered list with cost and disposal, which is what an insurer or an accountant asks for.
Know who has what and when it was due back, and record the condition an item was in when it came home rather than discovering it at the next job.
Every appliance with its purchase date and warranty length, working out the expiry date and how many days are left before cover runs out.
Every sheet, binder, game and puzzle on Upkeep Papers is free to download, with no email and no account. Making them is not free: each one takes days of research, design and checking, and the site costs money to run. If something here saved you time, you can buy us a coffee. It is entirely optional: nothing is locked, and nothing changes if you don’t.
