The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.

The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

A motorcycle's history in two tables. The first is the service record — date, odometer, work done, parts and cost, with the distance since the last entry worked out. The second is the chain and sprockets, which are looked after far more often.

Riders who do their own maintenance and want the history to survive a sale, owners of more than one machine, and anyone whose chain care happens often enough to be worth its own table.

What this helps you track

  • Every service and repair, with the odometer reading and who did it
  • How far the machine has run between one entry and the next
  • Parts fitted, with the numbers, so the right one is ordered next time
  • Every clean, lubrication, adjustment and replacement of the chain and sprockets
  • What the year has cost across both tables

How to use it

  1. Write the machine, its registration and the owner at the top, along with the chain and sprocket sizes from your own handbook.
  2. Add a row to the service table for each job: the date, the odometer, what was done, the parts and the cost.
  3. The distance-since column works itself out in the browser and the workbook from the odometer readings; on paper, subtract from the row above.
  4. Use the chain table for the frequent jobs — cleaning, lubricating, adjusting — with the slack you measured in your own units.
  5. Write the intervals your handbook or your dealer gives in the next-due column. None is printed on the sheet.
  6. Keep the finished sheets with the machine; a full history is worth money when it is sold.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

How often should the chain be adjusted?

Whatever your handbook says for your machine, chain and riding. The sheet records what you did and when, and has a column for the interval you were given; it supplies no figure of its own.

What slack should I set?

That is a handbook figure and differs between machines and even between chain types. Measure it the way your manual describes, write the number down, and the sheet keeps the history of what you set.

Why two tables?

Because chain care happens many times between services, and mixing the two makes both harder to read. The service table stays short and sellable; the chain table fills up.

Does it work for a scooter or a chainless bike?

The service table does. The chain table can be used for belt or shaft drive servicing instead — rename the rows in the browser version, or write over the headings on paper.
