The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.

The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.

Who this is for

What getting rid of the rubbish really cost. Every skip, grab lorry, tip run and collection goes on its own line with its size, the dates it arrived and left, and what was charged, including any permit or extra. The totals show the number of loads and the cost per load across the whole project.

Homeowners running a renovation, clear-out or garden project where waste leaves the site in several loads, and anyone who wants to know whether a skip or a grab lorry worked out better for them.

What this helps you track

  • Each skip, grab load, tip run or collection and who supplied it
  • When it arrived, when it went and how many days it sat on site
  • What it held, so the next load can be ordered to suit
  • The hire cost and any permit, exchange or overweight charge
  • The number of loads, the total spent and the cost per load

How to use it

  1. Write the project, the address and any permit reference for a skip on the road at the top.
  2. Add a line as soon as each skip is booked or each tip run is made, with the type, size and supplier.
  3. Enter the delivery and collection dates; the days on site are worked out in the browser and the workbook.
  4. Copy the cost and any permit or extra charge from the invoice or receipt, not from the quote.
  5. Note what each load held, so you can see which waste took up the most room.
  6. Read the summary at the end of the project for the number of loads, the total and the average cost per load.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser
  • Excel / Google Sheets workbook

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Do I need a permit for a skip on the road?

That depends on where you live and who looks after the road. Check with the skip supplier and the local highways authority before the skip arrives, and write any permit reference in the header so it is to hand if you are asked.

What counts as an extra charge?

Whatever the supplier added on top of the hire: a permit, an exchange, a lighting charge, a day over the agreed period or an item they charged separately. Put it in its own column so the extras can be seen apart from the hire price.

How are the days on site worked out?

The collection date minus the delivery date. For a tip run or a same-day grab load enter the same date twice and the line shows nothing on site. On paper, count the days between the two dates.

Why keep a line for a trip to the tip in my own car?

Because fuel, a van hire or a charge at the gate is still part of the waste bill. Enter whatever it cost you, even if it was only the tip charge, and the average cost per load stays honest.
