Who this is for

A record of every top you reach. Each line notes the date, the peak and its height, the area, the route you took, the distance and time, the weather and who was with you. The header keeps count of summits done and still to do on the list you are working through.

Hill walkers and mountaineers ticking off a list of peaks, and anyone who wants to remember which hills they have climbed, how and with whom.

What this helps you track

  • Every summit reached, with the date
  • The height and area or range of each peak
  • The route, distance and time taken
  • The weather on the day and who came with you
  • How many summits are done and how many remain on your list

How to use it

  1. Write your name, the list or area you are working through and the page number at the top.
  2. After each walk, add a line for every summit reached with the date, the peak name and its height as given on your map or list.
  3. Record the area or range, the route you took, the distance and the time the walk took.
  4. Note the weather and who was with you, and anything worth remembering in the notes column.
  5. Update the summits completed and remaining boxes, carrying the figures forward to each new page.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The online version keeps what you enter in your own browser and builds the completed PDF on your device.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Which list of peaks does it use?

Whichever you are working through. The sheet has no list built in; write the name of your list or area at the top and the number of summits on it, and count down the remaining figure as you go.

Where should the heights come from?

From the map or the published list you are following. Write metres or feet and keep to one unit throughout, noting which at the top of the notes area.

How do I log several tops on one walk?

Give each summit its own line with the same date and route. That keeps the count of summits completed accurate, and the distance and time can go on the first line only.

Is this a route plan?

No, it is a record of what you did. For planning a walk and leaving details with someone at home, use a route plan before you go and log the summits here after.
