Who this is for

The whole campaign on one set of pages. Keep the party, the people they have met, what they are carrying and what happened each session together, with a short list to run through before the next game.

Game masters running a long campaign in any system, and players who keep the group's notes between sessions.

What this helps you track

  • Each player, their character, class or role and current level
  • Non-player characters the party has met and how they left things
  • Loot and notable items, and who is holding them
  • What happened each session and which plot threads opened or closed
  • What to prepare before the next session

How to use it

  1. Write the campaign name, the game system, the game master and the date it started.
  2. Fill in the party: player, character, class or role and level, updating the level as they advance.
  3. After each session write its number, date, a short summary and the threads opened or closed.
  4. Add new non-player characters and loot as they turn up, with who has each item.
  5. Run through the prep list a day or two before the next game.
  6. Keep the browser version open during play; it saves in your own browser.

Formats

  • Printable PDF (A4 and US Letter)
  • Fillable PDF with form fields
  • Fill in online, saved in your browser

The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The online version keeps what you enter in your own browser and builds the completed PDF on your device.

How to print

Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.

Questions

Does it work with any game system?

Yes. The columns are general: class or role, level and notes. Write the system at the top and use the notes for anything system-specific, such as hit points or sanity.

How much should I write in the session summary?

A few lines is enough: where the party went, who they met and how it ended. The threads column is for hooks you need to pick up later, which is what helps most when prepping.

Should players see this sheet?

The party and loot sections are safe to share. Keep your own secrets for non-player characters in the notes area or on a separate page if players sometimes read the sheet.

How is this different from the tabletop game session log?

The session log records single game nights. This tracker is built for one ongoing campaign, keeping characters, non-player characters, loot and threads together across many sessions.
