Free heat pump quote comparison: heat loss, unit size, flow temperature, radiators, price after grant and checks for four installers. Excel, PDF and browser.
2 pages. The A4 and US Letter files are laid out identically, so neither is shrunk to fit.

Fillable PDF type and save
Spreadsheet formulas included
The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
The same sheet, on screen. Totals and figures are worked out as you type, rows can be added or removed, and you can print it or download the completed version as a PDF. Everything stays in your browser — your entries are kept in this browser's own storage on this device, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account.
Four heat pump quotes, compared on their design as well as their price. Each installer's heat loss figure sits beside the unit they propose, with the flow temperature, efficiency and radiator changes they quote, the price after any grant and the checks you made on them.
Homeowners replacing a boiler or other heating with a heat pump who have, or are collecting, quotes from several installers and want to see where the designs differ.
The printable is laid out inside a box that fits both A4 and US Letter, so the two files are identical and neither one is scaled. The fillable PDF has real form fields. The workbook uses plain formulas only — SUM, IF, COUNTIF and the like — so it opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets without anything breaking, and every calculated cell is grey so you can see which figures it worked out.
Download the A4 or US Letter file to match the paper in your printer, open it in a PDF reader and print at 100% — not "fit to page", which shrinks the writing space. Both files leave a 14 mm margin, which clears the unprintable edge on home printers. To print the online version with your entries in it, use the Print this sheet button, which prints only the sheet and none of the page around it. More on printing.
It divides the unit's output by the installer's own heat loss figure for the house. Quotes where the two are far apart are worth asking about. The sheet sets no right figure; the installer should be able to explain the sizing.
Because it shapes the rest of the design, including which radiators need changing and how the system will run. Quotes built on different flow temperatures are not like for like, so it is worth seeing them side by side.
From each quote. Installers usually give a seasonal efficiency for the design they propose. Copy it exactly as written and note how it was stated; the sheet supplies no typical figures.
The questionnaire gathers facts about your house before installers visit. This sheet compares what they proposed afterwards. Filling the questionnaire first means every installer starts from the same information.
The heating, hot water and fuel use you have now.
The system size, panels, inverter and battery each installer offers.
Each scheme, the measure it covers and the installer doing the work.
Electricity used by the heat pump between readings.
Printable sheets, workbooks and tools on the same subject.
Put the designer's figure and your reading on the same line. The record then shows not just what the system was set to but whether that was what it was meant to be.
Separate the annual professional service from the filter changes you do yourself, and keep both on one sheet.
