Pool Water Replacement and Dilution Log

A free printable pool dilution record sheet — meter start and end, volume of fresh water in, the reason and bathers since the last row, with month totals.

First page of the Pool Water Replacement and Dilution Log — Show how much fresh water a pool has really had against how many people have used it, so a pool that is being under-diluted is found from the meter rather than from a complaint about the air.

What this sheet is for

Show how much fresh water a pool has really had against how many people have used it, so a pool that is being under-diluted is found from the meter rather than from a complaint about the air.

Who it is for

Plant operators and pool managers on commercial and shared pools where fresh water in is metered and dilution is part of the operating procedures.

How to use it

  1. Write the make-up meter serial and your dilution figure per bather at the top, naming whose figure it is.
  2. Each time fresh water goes in, log the meter start and end and the reason — backwash, dilution, top-up, leak, refill.
  3. Carry the bather count across from the bather load record.
  4. Note the reading that prompted a deliberate dilution, and keep a running total.
  5. Fill in the month totals and work out the fresh water per bather.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: Fresh water going into a pool — backwash make-up, deliberate dilution, top-ups and refills after a leak — read off the meter and set against the bathers that made it necessary.

Your dilution figure, not ours. How much fresh water a pool needs per bather, and which reading tells you the water is tired, is a figure from your pool operating procedures or your operator's scheme — write it in the box below so the log has something to be measured against. The sheet prints no dilution rate of its own.

Write-on lines: Pool / property · Pool volume · Make-up meter serial · Dilution figure per bather (whose)

Month totals — carried across from the rows below

Write-on lines: Month · Total fresh water in · Total bathers · Fresh water per bather (worked out) · Against your figure

Questions

Why is there no litres-per-bather figure on the sheet?

Because the figure comes from your operator's scheme or your pool operating procedures, and a public pool, a hydrotherapy pool and a hotel pool do not share one. There is a box for yours; the log is then measured against it.

Does backwash water count?

Water that goes down the drain on a backwash is replaced from the mains through the same meter, so it appears here. Write the reason as backwash so it can be told apart from deliberate dilution when the month is added up.
