What this sheet is for

Keep track of a stack of paperwork moving between customs, test stations and the registration office, so a missing original is found before the appointment rather than at it.

Who it is for

Anyone importing a vehicle privately, bringing their own car with them when they move country, or registering one bought abroad.

How to use it

  1. Get the official list of documents and stages from the authority where you are, and write each item into the table.
  2. Tick off what you have, note whether it is an original or a copy, and where it is kept.
  3. Record every submission with its date, the office and the reference number they gave you.
  4. Write the outcome and the next step after each stage, so the chain is clear when you pick it up again weeks later.

What is on the sheet

2 pages, in this order:

Page 1

Printed under the title: Every document an imported vehicle needs on its way to a registration in your name — gathered, checked and tracked through each office, so nothing is missing on the day it is due.

The official list, tracked here. Which documents are needed, which tests apply and which offices are involved are set by the country you are importing into, and change. Nothing here says what those are. Get the list from the official source where you are, write each item in below, and use this sheet to keep track of where every paper is.

Ruled lines: Notes — who you spoke to, what they asked for, and when

Questions

Why does the sheet not list the documents needed?

Because they are set by the country you are importing into, they differ with the vehicle's age and origin, and they change. Any printed list would be wrong for somebody. Get the list from the official source where you are and use this sheet to keep track of it.

Is this a guide to the import process?

No. It is a tracker for the documents and stages you have been told apply. Check the rules where you are, and use an agent if the process is unfamiliar.
