What this sheet is for

Give a single extinguisher its own dated check record, in reach when you actually do the check, instead of a register kept somewhere else entirely.

Who it is for

Homes, vans, boats, workshops and small premises with one or two extinguishers, rather than a whole building's worth.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the location, type and size once, on the card for that extinguisher.
  2. Note each visual check as you do it, with the date and your initials.
  3. Record your last professional service date and who carried it out.
  4. Cut along the line and hang the card on or beside the extinguisher itself.

What is on the sheet

One page, top to bottom:

Printed under the title: A record for one extinguisher — cut out and hang it on or beside the unit itself, so its check history travels with it rather than staying in a folder somewhere else.

No interval is printed here. How often to check it, and by whom, is set by your regulator, insurer or equipment supplier, and it differs by country. This card is where you write your own dates — not where you look them up. For several extinguishers in one building, use the Fire Extinguisher Check Log instead.

Card one — cut along the line and hang it on the extinguisher

Write-on lines: Location · Type & size · Serial no. · Last service / by

Table, 5 rows: Date · OK? Fault or action needed · Initials

Card two — cut along the line and hang it on the extinguisher

Write-on lines: Location · Type & size · Serial no. · Last service / by

Table, 5 rows: Date · OK? Fault or action needed · Initials

Questions

Does this replace the register kept for a whole building?

No — for several extinguishers in one place, use the Fire Extinguisher Check Log, which is built as a register. This card is for the single unit it hangs beside, not the whole premises.
