Outdoor Machinery Winterising Checklist
Do one pass through everything with an engine before the cold, so nothing needs a carburettor rebuild in spring.

A free printable machinery storage checklist and record — where each machine went for the winter, its fuel state, where the battery is, and how it came out.
One page. Choose your paper size — both versions are laid out identically, so neither one gets shrunk to fit.

Fill it in type and save
The fillable versions have real form fields — open them in any PDF reader, type into them and save. Printing help.
Know in spring where every battery, drain plug and machine actually is, and whether it started, instead of finding out the hard way on the first fine day.
Anyone storing more than a couple of machines over winter — smallholders, grounds teams, hire yards and households with a full shed.
One page, top to bottom:
Printed under the title: Where every machine went for the winter, what state it went in, and what state it came back out — one line per machine, in and out. The winterising checklist is the doing; this is the record.
Write-on lines: Store / building · Winter (year) · Keys held by · Chargers kept at
Table, 8 rows: Machine · In (date) · Fuel state · Battery where · Stored where · Out (date) · Started? · Found on the way out
Table, 4 rows: Machine · Job or part needed · Part no. · Ordered · Done
The winterising checklist is the pass you make before the frost — drain, treat, clean, tick. This is the register of what happened afterwards: where each machine and its battery went, and what it was like months later when it came out. Use both; they do different jobs.
Because that one tick is the honest test of whether the winterising worked. A machine that needed the carburettor cleaning in spring tells you exactly which step to do differently next autumn.
Do one pass through everything with an engine before the cold, so nothing needs a carburettor rebuild in spring.
Get every tool you own onto one register with its serial number, so a theft, a fire or a claim starts from a list instead of from memory.
Give every small machine in the shed the same maintenance record, using one sheet per machine.
Record whose property is on the yard at the point it arrives, which prevents almost every argument about a missing rug.
Every sheet, binder, game and puzzle on Upkeep Papers is free to download, with no email and no account. Making them is not free: each one takes days of research, design and checking, and the site costs money to run. If something here saved you time, you can buy us a coffee. It is entirely optional: nothing is locked, and nothing changes if you don’t.
